Peoples Conference Chairman Sajad Gani Lone said he will not vote for National Conference candidates in the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections. He accused Chief Minister Omar Abdullah of aligning with the BJP and betraying Congress.
Lone said he saw a video where the CM suggested anyone not supporting NC in the Rajya Sabha polls is siding with the BJP. He called this astonishing, as it paints even Congress and others as BJP supporters.

Recalling past events, Lone accused NC and Omar Abdullah of misleading the people in the 2024 elections. “We lost the elections, and our expectations were shattered. How many times must we be blamed?” he said.
He challenged the CM to prove that Congress was denied a Rajya Sabha seat independently, not on BJP’s instructions. Lone also accused NC of backstabbing Congress, citing past Delhi visits by Omar Abdullah before the abrogation of Article 370.
Lone said Congress is the only party truly against BJP, while NC has collaborated with BJP before. He added that on restoring statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, only Congress can play a key role since BJP is unwilling.

He criticized Omar Abdullah for damaging NC’s credibility by burning bridges with Congress after receiving their support in 2024. “You must prove you’re not with BJP,” he said, adding that NC actions currently benefit BJP.
Lone said he will never vote for NC, either ideologically or practically. He also highlighted hardships faced by ordinary Kashmiris under the current administration, including cases of workers being denied basic help.
He questioned the CM’s leadership and motives, referencing Omar Abdullah’s ties with BJP leaders. Lone asked NC to clarify its position, saying, “What could be better news for BJP than you denying Congress the seat?”
