Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday responded to questions about National Conference leader Aga Ruhullah’s reported decision to stay away from the party’s campaign in Budgam by saying he was unaware of the issue.
“I don’t know anything about him,” Omar said briefly when asked about Ruhullah’s remarks while speaking to reporters after attending the FICCI National Executive Committee meeting in Srinagar, as per Kashmir News Corner (KNC).
Commenting on the overall situation in Jammu and Kashmir, Omar said the Union Territory has faced a difficult year filled with multiple challenges. “It’s no secret that this year has been tough — first the Pahalgam attack, then the tense situation between the two countries, and later, the heavy rains in July, August, and September which caused widespread damage,” he said.
He admitted that these events have affected the region’s finances but emphasized that the government remains dedicated to serving the people. “It’s not complete darkness. Even in tough times, there are rays of light, and we continue to hold on to that hope as we work for the welfare of our people,” Omar stated.

On tourism, the Chief Minister said several initiatives have been launched to attract more visitors to Jammu and Kashmir. “A team has been sent to Singapore since Southeast Asia is a major market for us. Similarly, within India, we are promoting J&K as a preferred tourist destination in cities like Bengaluru, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Delhi,” he said.
Omar expressed optimism that these efforts will help revive the tourism sector, which remains crucial for the region’s economy. —(KNC)
