According to officials, the inspection was carried out by a team of Food Safety Officers led by the Assistant Commissioner, Food Safety Srinagar, as part of the department’s ongoing crackdown on substandard and unsafe food items in the city.

During the inspection, the team found that the unit was producing items such as katlam and finni under unsanitary conditions. Around five quintals of Namkeen snacks were seized on the spot, and samples were lifted for detailed laboratory testing to determine their quality and safety.

Commissioner, Food and Drug Administration, Smitha Sethi, urged all food business operators to strictly follow the licensing norms and hygiene standards set under the Food Safety and Standards Act. She also warned that strict legal action will be taken against violators found selling or manufacturing unsafe food items.
