The Jammu and Kashmir government has constituted a Monitoring Committee to oversee the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PMJAY) and AB PMJAY SEHAT health insurance schemes.
According to Government Order No. 661-JK(HME) of 2025, issued by the Health and Medical Education Department, the committee has been formed to ensure transparency, accountability, and regular monitoring of these flagship health programs. The order was issued by the Secretary to the Government, Health and Medical Education Department.
As per the order, the committee will be headed by the Director of Health Services, Jammu, and will include the Director of Health Services, Kashmir, Chief Medical Officers from different districts, and representatives from the State Health Agency.
The primary role of the committee will be to review the functioning of both health schemes, ensure efficient delivery of healthcare benefits to eligible beneficiaries, and submit periodic progress reports to the government.
Officials said that this move reflects the administration’s commitment to strengthening the public health system and providing effective and accessible healthcare coverage to people across Jammu and Kashmir.

The committee has also been directed to send quarterly reports and recommendations to the Health Department for follow-up and necessary actions.
Health experts and stakeholders have welcomed the decision, saying it will help identify gaps, enhance service delivery, and make the Ayushman Bharat schemes more effective in improving healthcare access for citizens across the Union Territory—(KNO).
