
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for releasing the 21st installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme for farmers across Jammu and Kashmir.
In a post shared by the Office of the J&K Lieutenant Governor on X, LG Sinha expressed deep gratitude to the Prime Minister and the Union Minister for their continued support to the farming community. “I am extremely grateful to Hon’ble PM Shri @NarendraModi Ji and Hon’ble Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shri @ChouhanShivraj Ji for the advance release of the 21st installment of the PM-KISAN Scheme for the farmers of J&K UT,” the post read.
As per the details, around ₹171 crore will be directly transferred into the bank accounts of nearly 8.55 lakh eligible farmers of Jammu and Kashmir. The Lieutenant Governor said that this much-needed financial assistance will help farmers sustain their livelihoods and resume their agricultural activities efficiently.
“Our farmers are the backbone of the economy, providing a strong foundation for growth in other sectors,” LG Sinha said, emphasizing that the support under PM-KISAN plays a crucial role in strengthening rural income and agricultural development.

He also highlighted that the Government of India remains committed to assisting farmers and ensuring stability for those affected by the recent floods in several parts of the country. “The GOI is committed to provide all possible assistance to mitigate the effects of the worst floods in several decades and ensure stability in the lives of the affected population,” the statement added.
The PM-KISAN scheme, launched in 2019, provides income support of ₹6,000 per year to eligible farmer families, released in three equal installments of ₹2,000 each. With the release of this 21st installment, the government continues its mission to empower farmers and promote sustainable agriculture across the nation.
