In a major success against cross-border smuggling, the Border Security Force (BSF) on Monday recovered two packets of suspected heroin weighing around 5.3 kilograms from the R.S. Pura sector in Jammu.
According to an official statement received by Kashmir News Channel (KNC), the operation was launched following specific intelligence inputs about possible narcotic movement along the International Border. Acting promptly, BSF troops laid a special ambush in the R.S. Pura area during the early hours.
During a search near Village Bidipur, the alert BSF personnel found two yellow-coloured packets hidden in farmland close to the border. On inspection, the packets were found to contain 10 smaller packets, together weighing approximately 5.300 kg.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the consignment was likely dropped through a drone from across the border. A thorough search of the nearby area was launched, and the local police were informed to carry out further investigation.
The BSF spokesperson said that the force remains fully committed to curbing cross-border smuggling and maintaining the security and integrity of the nation.
