Organizers vow to make Sopore a hub of sports activity; MLA Kar pledges sports infra boost Srinagar: SWFC Kashmir lifted the Invisibles Football Cup (2nd Edition) after defeating Sonawari SA by 1-0 in an intense and thrilling final match played at Sir Allama Iqbal Ground in Sopore.
According to details shared by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the tournament was organized by the Sports Development Forum Sopore and witnessed participation from more than 40 top football clubs across Kashmir.

The final match attracted a huge crowd of football fans and local supporters, creating an electric atmosphere at the venue.
MLA Sopore, Irshad Rasool Kar, attended the event as the Chief Guest. In his address, he lauded the organizers for promoting sports at the grassroots level and assured full support for the development of sports infrastructure in the region. “We are fully committed to upgrading sports facilities in Sopore. Soon, major developments will be seen at Allama Iqbal Ground, Noor Gah, and Khushal Stadium,” Kar said.
Chief Organizer, Shahid Wani, said the aim of organizing the tournament was to engage the youth positively through sports. “Our goal is to keep young people away from drugs and harmful habits. Sports teach discipline, teamwork, and determination. This tournament is a step toward that direction,” he said.
He added that the overwhelming response from teams and fans this year has motivated them to continue their mission of making Sopore a leading center for sports activities in North Kashmir.
Supporting partner, Junaid Janwari, also highlighted the Forum’s vision for youth empowerment through sports. “This is just the beginning. We want to give young players a stage where they can showcase their talent and represent Sopore at state and national levels,” he said.
The event concluded with a grand trophy and medal distribution ceremony, as the crowd cheered the champions for their well-deserved victory. —(KNO)
