Minister for Education and Health, Sakina Itoo, on Tuesday paid a surprise visit to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Pattan to assess its functioning and healthcare services. She was accompanied by the MLA Pattan and Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Baramulla.
According to the news agency Kashmir News Corner (KNC), during her inspection, the Minister found several employees absent from duty without authorization. Taking serious note of the issue, she immediately contacted the Director of Health Services and ordered disciplinary action against the defaulters.
The Minister expressed concern over the shortage of essential medicines and basic facilities at the hospital. She assured that the government would take prompt steps to fulfill all necessary requirements to ensure uninterrupted patient care.
Sakina Itoo directed the hospital administration to maintain strict attendance monitoring, improve the supply of medicines and equipment, and take measures to enhance overall cleanliness and patient satisfaction.
She stressed that accountability, dedication, and efficiency among staff are essential to improving healthcare delivery across Jammu and Kashmir. “Every hospital must function in a way that builds people’s trust in public healthcare,” she added. —(KNC)
