The Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, on Wednesday clarified that Nasir Aslam Wani has been officially appointed as Advisor to the Chief Minister through a Government Order, despite some confusion in media reports.
According to an official statement posted on X by the Office of the J&K Chief Minister, as cited by Kashmir News Corner (KNC), “Some misleading reports are being circulated regarding the appointment of Mr. Nasir Aslam Wani as Advisor to the Chief Minister. To clarify, Mr. Wani has officially been appointed through a Government Order. What remains pending are only the terms and conditions of his appointment, which have been unnecessarily delayed.”
The post further added that despite procedural delays, Wani has continued to contribute positively to governance in the Union Territory.
The clarification comes amid media reports suggesting that the Chief Minister had stated the appointment file had not yet been cleared by the competent authority (Lieutenant Governor) and had been pending for ten months.
In an interview, the Chief Minister acknowledged that while Wani does not hold an official government office, accommodation, or salary, he has been voluntarily working in his advisory role without interruption.
